Hello folks as you will know I am a Class B Member of the SNU and I am not always enthralled by a lot of the dictates that emanate from the top table and have been told by some I have too much to say. I have no intention of upsetting the apple-cart however a frank and honest debate within the perimeters of moral decency cannot be wrong. Here is a topic to kick off with do you think the NEC has lost the trust of the members with all the red tape that is appearing and is our movement is getting too commercial.
I saw a note similar to this one on another site may be this supports the Stance of the NEC or other organisations guide lines including DASK
What is happening to our wonderful spiritualist movement today there has been a rash of so-called spiritualist churches springing up all over the place and dragging our great movement down.
I am in favor of new churches and centers opening up to spread the word of spirit
How-ever it should be done properly.
What is happening now there are groups of people who simply hire a hall and have a so-called divine service and charge and entry fee at the door calling it a Donation? They claim it is for Charity to flout the laws if they are a charity then register at OSCR.
A service held in a centre which is not a consecrated place of worship and is not taken by a Minister is not a church service and any-one claiming it is so is in breach of the trades description act. A Church service is free however a free will offering can be accepted.
Any-one giving Clairvoyant messages for a fee could fall foul of the Consumer Protection Act simply calling it entertainment to try to circumvent the act is laughable to say the least. If they are claiming they are entertainers then why call themselves Mediums that in itself is a breach of the both the CPC and the TDA.
You will find a lot of these new so-called churches carry no public liability insurance claiming they are covered by the hall owners and this not the case.
My advice to any of these so-called churches is to drop the word church use the word centre instead and check the land-lords insurance policy. They could save themselves and others a lot of grief if they do so.

Not that long ago a motion at an AGM was defeated to have five Directors to oversee departments within the SNU and to abandon the national council , this motion was defeated. The new setup descibed and put into place by David Bruten recently looks very similar to what was vetoed any comments. ?
How you spent your dash?
I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
From the beginning to the end.
He noted that first came the date of her birth
And spoke of the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years.
For that dash represents all the time
That she spent alive on earth
And now only those who loved her
Know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not, how much we own,
The cars, the house, the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.
So think about this long and hard;
Are there things you’d like to change?
For you never know how much time is left
That can still be rearranged.
If we could just slow down enough
To consider what’s true and real
And always try to understand
The way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger
And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
Like we’ve never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect
And more often wear a smile,
Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a little while.
So when your eulogy is being read
With your life’s actions to rehash
Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spent your dash?
